Valve is no stranger to Virtual Reality. With a room full of markers and people filled with passion, Valve is among those on the front lines to bring VR to the masses.

I had the honor of visiting the studio in Bellevue, Washington to check things out. First came the demo room. A small room with a computer in the corner, a floor lamp, and a light switch. I put on the HMD and instantly found myself somewhere else. One of the more impressive demos was a 3D model of the room I was standing in. This allowed me to walk around and touch the lamp and flip the light switch while in VR.

Next came the development room. This was much larger and was full of AR markers. I brought the Vanguard V source with me and with the help of a Valve rep, we hammered away until SteamVR was integrated. This was a very educational experience and I can’t thank Valve enough for taking the time to work with me on integration.
